This November, we went to Alicante to see the results of the renovation of a house to which we donated Geopannel insulation material. This initiative is carried out in collaboration with the program Asertos of Arquitectos Sin Fronteras Spain. We tell you more below.
Asertos is a branch of Arquitectos Sin Fronteras Spain, located in the old district of Alicante, dedicated to helping vulnerable neighborhoods of the city. Through participatory projects, they foster urban spaces regeneration using art, workshops and installations. They also have an important role in the renovation of the residential fabric. This community focus not only restores infrastructures but also increases the sense of belonging of the neighbors and empowers local communities.
Right now, they are involved in the North Area and in the Cemetery’s Neighborhood of Alicante.

The cemetery’s neighborhood
Named after the close by municipal cemetery, the Cemetery’s Neighborhood is landlocked between highways and industrial fabric, away from the city center. Almost completely cut from public transport, it doesn’t possess public spaces nor services, and the houses are in a critical state; they don’t meet basic standards for living.

House in Santa Teresa street
This house was selected with priority for an integral renovation following criteria carefully defined by Asertos, among others: the landlady is the mother of 4 children, she is raising them alone, she has been actively involved in the community and helping the organization in the last years.
The building process lasted 3 months, during which the family were accommodated in friends’ houses. The isolation panels that were donated by our studio, of the brand Geopannel, are safely and sustainably protecting the building from heat, cold and noise.
With talent for interior design, the landlady chose herself the materials of their new home, allowing her to take better ownership of it. They couldn’t wait to finally take possession on the 29th of November.

Arvo’s commitment
More than house renovations, these initiatives are a breath of hope for the neighbors who have seen their daily life transformed by human and technical support from Asertos.
